She
enlisted in the military in November 1982.
She completed Basic Training and training as a Personnel Actions Clerk
at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. She received her commission as a second
lieutenant upon completion of Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, in August 1984. She served
as the Provost Marshal and Assistant Chief of Staff for the Pacific Ocean
Division Corps of Engineers, Ft.
Shafter, HI. She has served a tour: at Lackland Air Force
Base, San Antonio, Texas, with the Military Working Dog Program; in Panama with
the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Law Enforcement Activity, and the
Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 92d Military Police Battalion, Fort
Clayton, Panama; United States Military Preparatory School and United States
Army Garrison, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey and Headquarters Staff and Faculty
United States Military Academy, Military Police Company, West Point, New York. She
was assigned to a variety of leadership and staff positions throughout her
career including; four Company Commands, Assistant S3, Assistant School
Secretary, Tactical Officer, Provost Marshal, Operations Officer, Plans Officer
and Platoon Leader. While
an army captain, she earned a master’s degree in educational psychology from
the University of
Oklahoma. She has completed numerous military schools
including: the Military Police Basic and
Advanced Course, Airborne School, Combat Arms Service StaffSchool and the Command and General Staff Officer Course. Linda
completed her Doctorate in Education at the University of Southern
California in December 2005. She is the author of “Ultimate Power Enemy
Within the Ranks”. Linda is a public
speaker, specializing in the prevention of sexual harassment and sexual
assault. Linda
lived in Hawaii for ten years. In the Hawaii community, Linda was selected as a
Pacific Century Fellow, Class 2003. She
served on the Board of Directors for the Coalition for Drug-Free Hawaii and
participated in the 1999 YWCA Capital Campaign Community Division. Linda
is a member of the Austin Basketball Officials Association, the Great Southwest
Officials Association, and the American Basketball Association. She can be found in the schools and
recreation facilities officiating ball games, supporting our community activities.
Linda
A. Fischer currently resides in Georgetown, Texas.
She served in the United States Army for twenty plus years and retired as a
Major on 1 October 2003.
The daughter of a career soldier, Linda was born in Biloxi,
Mississippi and spent her childhood on the
move, but she calls Georgetown,
Texas, where her parents now
live, her home. She graduated from Georgetown High School and completed a bachelor’s degree in physical education from SouthwesternUniversity,
before joining the military.
